In addition to his board certifications in OB/GYN and pelvic medicine, he is also MIGS (Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery) certified, further establishing his expertise in managing complex gynecologic conditions.

Dr. Shakiba earned his medical degree from Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences in Tehran, Iran. He completed his internship at Yale School of Medicine and his residency at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio, where he developed advanced expertise in urogynecology and minimally invasive surgery.

Dr. Khashayar Shakiba brings over 25 years of clinical experience to the field of female pelvic medicine, with a particular focus on neuropelveology—the study of pelvic nerve function and its role in chronic pelvic pain and dysfunction. Recognizing that many pelvic conditions are multifactorial and often poorly understood, he has dedicated his career to advancing a more comprehensive, neuroscience-informed approach to diagnosis and treatment. His work emphasizes the critical role of the autonomic and peripheral nervous systems, particularly within the sacral region, in regulating pelvic organ function and contributing to complex symptoms such as pelvic pain, sexual dysfunction, and bladder disorders. Through years of multidisciplinary care, he has identified patterns linking these conditions, allowing him to move beyond symptom-based treatment toward addressing underlying neural mechanisms. In 2010, he founded Women’s Pelvic Surgery of North Jersey with a mission to integrate advanced robotic surgery, minimally invasive techniques, and ongoing clinical innovation. His continued commitment to research and education reflects a broader goal of improving understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of pelvic disorders that have historically been underrecognized and undertreated.
